This reform, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to reduce exam stress and provide students with a "best of two scores" option.

Key Details of CBSE Class 10 Dual Exam System – Starting 2026

  1. CBSE Class 10 students will have the option to retake up to three subjects starting in 2026.
  2. Eligible subjects include Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages.
  3. This change applies to the 2025–26 academic session.
  4. The first exam is compulsory and will be held in February–March.
  5. The second exam is optional, scheduled for May.
